Harnessing the potential of green digital solutions – EGDC session at COP28
November 27, 2023
On 1 December 2023, the European Green Digital Coalition and the European Commission Directorate General for Communication Networks, Content and Technology hosted a side event at COP28 in Dubai, in the EU Pavilion. The event, Harnessing the potential of green digital solutions, gave participants insights into how digital solutions bring about climate benefits and guidelines on deploying them.
Speakers from the European Commission, the European Green Digital Coalition (EGDC) and local authorities presented evidence of climate benefits based on real-life, deployed digital solutions. They explained how this evidence was calculated using science-based methodology, a core part of the work of the EGDC. Speakers also discussed the next steps for the methodology and guidelines for deploying digital solutions, including how they can be implemented in vertical sectors, and used by local authorities and financial institutions in order to maximise the net climate impact of digitalisation.
